Flagship Program

Veterans Community Support & Wellness

Our flagship program connects veterans with community activities, wellness support, transportation assistance, and resource navigation across Tampa Bay.

Program Goals

Reduce social isolation among veterans, improve access to transportation, strengthen life-skills, and connect veterans to VA and community resources.

Objectives

Increase veteran community engagement, provide reliable transportation to essential services, deliver life-skills programming, and facilitate resource navigation.

Who We Serve

Veterans and their families in the service area, with emphasis on those experiencing isolation, transportation barriers, or resource access challenges.

Areas of Support

Our program addresses the full spectrum of veteran needs through six key areas of support.

Community Engagement

We organize regular gatherings, recreational activities, educational events, volunteer opportunities, and community outings that bring veterans together in a welcoming environment. These activities help veterans stay active, form friendships, reconnect with their communities, and develop a stronger sense of purpose and belonging.

Social Isolation Reduction

Many veterans experience loneliness or feel disconnected after military service. We create safe, veteran-centered spaces where participants can share experiences, build trusted relationships, and develop lasting peer connections. Through wellness check-ins, small-group activities, peer support, and consistent engagement, we help veterans feel seen, valued, and connected.

Transportation Support

Transportation should not prevent a veteran from receiving assistance or participating in the community. We help eligible veterans access transportation to VA and community appointments, program activities, resource centers, wellness events, and other essential destinations. We also coordinate with local transportation providers and community partners when a veteran needs services beyond our direct capacity.

Resource Navigation

Finding the right benefits and services can be difficult and overwhelming. Our team helps veterans identify appropriate resources, understand available options, complete referrals, gather required information, and connect with trusted service providers.

Life-Skills Development

Our workshops and hands-on activities help veterans strengthen the practical skills needed for greater stability, wellness, and independence. Activities are designed to respect each veteran's experience, abilities, personal goals, and level of independence.

Connection to VA & Community

We help bridge the gap between veterans and the organizations prepared to serve them. Through partnerships with VA programs, veteran service organizations, government agencies, nonprofits, healthcare providers, businesses, and faith-based groups, we provide warm referrals and coordinated connections.

How Our Support Works

A simple, veteran-centered process from first contact to follow-up.

1

Contact or Referral

A veteran, family member, caregiver, or community organization contacts Vann Rainey Veterans Alliance.

2

Listen and Assess

Staff listen to the veteran's needs, strengths, priorities, and immediate concerns.

3

Connect and Support

The veteran receives direct program support, a warm referral, transportation coordination, or access to an appropriate community resource.

4

Follow Up

Staff follow up when appropriate to confirm that the veteran received assistance and determine whether additional support is needed.

"Our services are veteran-centered, respectful, and focused on measurable human impact—helping veterans become more connected, informed, supported, and engaged in their communities."
